Mothers Day Hanging Baskets 2011

It is another Mother’s Day and this year poses an unusual situation for growers and florists.  Although many people like to send Mom a fresh bouquet for Mother’s Day, alot of people like to send a flowering hanging basket that will last the spring/summer season.  This years hanging baskets are smaller then years past because the weather in our area has not been ideal for growing- I am told the light has not been enough and the tempuratures not hot enough. The good thing is that hanging baskets although not as mature as they usually are this time of the year will continue to grow and beautify as the spring time weather warms up.  Keep them heavy with water and provide the proper sunlight and these baskets will be enjoyed for the season 2011 as in years past.

This years quick turn around time between Easter, Admin Asst Day and Mother’s poses many challenges to the florist.  Displays and marketing must happen on a quick time schedule as well as making sure the fully stocked cooler and balloon stock is kept up to date and appropriate for the different occasions being celebrated.  But we are up to the challenge and have been having fun creating new holiday designs for this year 2011- stop in and see or visit our website at www.bloomsflowershop.net

Spring Has Sprung!

This is my 11th year hear at Bloom’s for Easter.  It is my favorite of all the Holidays because after the long winter it is always so nice to see and smell all the signs of spring within our four walls.  The bright pinks, yellows and purples are a nice change to all the white we all experienced this winter.  Spring Bulbs like Tulips, Hyacinth, Daffs and Lillies are always a nice gift because if planted after enjoyment- they can be planted outdoors and enjoyed for many years to come.  Happy Easter and Happy Spring everyone.

The Sweetest Season of All

Well we just came out of the Merriest season of all and now headed into the Sweetest season.  Whether it is Cupid’s Ball, a Father’s Daughter Dance or Valentine’s Day people will be out looking for blossoms for their sweeties.  When picking up corsages and bouts it is important to keep them refrigerated until you are ready to present them so they stay nice and crisp.  If you are a traditional rose giver or receiver, it is necessary to trim boxed or wrapped Roses prior to arranging them.  Every couple/three days retrim the Roses and place them in fresh water.  These tips will help to ensure that your Bloom’s stay fresh. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.

It is already Christmas and almost New Years!  It seems I was just swimming in my pool the other day. Winter took it’s time getting here this year, but when it did it came in cold and snowy.  It sure makes for a pretty drive when delivering.  This year’s Poinsettias are real nice and boxwood trees seem to be making a comeback.  Stop by to see this year’s Bloom’s store floral arrangements.  The seigh is expecially nice.  Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all.

It is another Thanksgiving at Bloom’s and I am thankful we are still here :).  A business that has survived 75 years serving a community.  This year we anticipate seeing many of our regular customers come in to get their centerpieces for the holiday table.  We are thankful for that too!  and looking forward to all of us at Bloom’s spending another year together creating new designs and coming up with new ideas to keep our designs fresh and interesting!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
